Want to fight without getting hurt?!?
Come learn what “stage combat” really is- and what it takes to perform with swords in this safe, active, and entertaining series!

Have you ever seen a movie with swords or fight scenes and wonder how they rarely get hurt? Do you find yourself wanting to replicate the fun tricks in the movies? Think you have what it takes to fight like the stunt pros?

Students ages 10-12 will cover beginner stage combat movements, vocabulary, and techniques through unarmed and armed combat. Elements include physical workouts, stretching, story telling, safety lessons, and of course—sword fighting! Students will gain an understanding of the importance of safety and training before performing a scene on stage; and will develop the teamwork skills necessary to perform a believable fight, while maintaining safety and technique. This workshop will hold a showcase for students to demonstrate learned stunts and combinations on the final class day.

All students must be dressed in movable clothing (think PE attire), toe-covered shoes, and provide a water bottle and optional lunch. All sword materials and a light snack will be provided by the theatre.
