Join Kona’s Improv leader Quinton Loder on Friday, October 11th from 9:00am-3:00pm, as he shows students ages 7-12 the how-tos of improvisational comedy.
Perfect for youth with zero experience who wish to build their confidence and test the waters of Improv, and just as perfect for those with experience looking to own their skills and KID-around, all in a fun and supportive environment!
Using a blend of short and long-form improv, this workshop will practice building strong performance-like scenes without sacrificing the fun of funny! Students will also learn to trust their instincts and fellow performers, what “being in the moment” actually means, creating a story without a script, how to make strong choices in their actions, and what to do with “yes, and…” . Perfect for youth with experience looking to hone their skills, and just as perfect for those with zero experience that want to build confidence and test the waters of Improv in a fun, supportive environment.
Students must wear toe-covered shoes, provide a water bottle, and lunch. A light snack will be provided during the workshop.
About the Instructor
Having recently moved to the Big Island from NYC, Quinton has joined the Hawaii performing arts scene after studying and performing short and long-form improv for the last 24 years. He found a wealth of theater talent within the Aloha Theatre and the Alohaha’s Improv troupe, and became both anxious and excited to share his knowledge to expand their abilities! He approaches performing and coaching improv with emphasis on support and honesty, and can’t wait to see what you can do!
