Into the Woods Audition Group 3
Aloha Theatre will hold open auditions for volunteer performers for the Broadway musical Into the Woods on stage Monday and Tuesday, December 9 and 10, beginning at 6:00 p.m. A possible invitational callback audition may be held on Thursday, December 12, if necessary, also at 6:00 p.m
Auditions on Monday, December 9 are by online appointment only. Candidates may reserve a time by visiting the Aloha Theatre audition webpage, and are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their confirmed time to complete paperwork and check-in. Tuesday, December 10, auditions will be an open call, with candidates being seen on a first-come, first-served basis in groups of ten. Thursday’s callback audition will be by invitation only.
Those auditioning are asked to create a 60-90 second monologue, speaking as a character from a fairy tale or other folklore source. Fracturing the tale is encouraged! Candidates may also be asked to cold read a speech from the script, which will be provided. The audition will also consist of learning a short movement routine as a group, and individually singing up to 16 bars, or about one minute, of a song from the show. Sheet music and an accompanist will be provided. If a song from another source is used, sheet music in the appropriate key must be provided by the candidate. No a capella or karaoke style auditions will be allowed. Sturdy, closed toe shoes are required. Slippers will not be allowed. Scores and libretti are available for perusal by arrangement with production manager Stefani Pelletier. All 23 roles in the show are available. Descriptions and requirements for each character are available on the website.
