Christmas Parade Extravaganza

Want to take your musical theatre skills to the next level?
Have you ever been inspired by the Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, Disneyland/world parades, or any live, interactive, performances?
Here’s your turn to gain some professional training in the live-entertainment world!

Join Rachel Carr in “Christmas Parade Extravaganza”!

Filled with Disneyworld inspiration, students will learn the how-tos of performing in multiple shows a day, and the “behind the scenes” elements involved with large-scale parades and outdoor performance events.

Rachel will share her experiences of performing in the Disney parades while guiding you to create your own parade with on stage and behind the scenes magic!

Go through the entire park/parade process from audition to performance, learn the technical elements involved in building mechanical floats, design Disney-inspired costumes, and more! Improvisation, Music theory, and acting activities will also be incorporated in this workshop. The skills learned in this workshop will improve “picking up” choreography, public speaking, creative thinking, and technology.

This ONE DAY ONLY event welcomes pre-teens and teens of all theatrical backgrounds to attend. Closed-toe shoes MUST be worn (dance shoes are not required, but encouraged). Students are encouraged to bring lunch and a water bottle.

About the Instructor
Rachel is a native of Northern Virginia where she fell in love with the performing arts. Growing up she participated in choir and theatre in addition to dancing for a youth ballet company. After high school, Rachel attended Point Park University, where she received her B.A. in Dance Performance and spent her summers teaching dance for Fairfax County Public Schools and choreographing for Westfield Summer Theater. Rachel then spent three years in Orlando Florida working for the Walt Disney Company both as a performer and maintenance choreographer. She moved to Kona at the beginning of 2019 and is looking forward to working with the Aloha Theatre!
